This year our goal of ‘the World Holy Name Week celebration’ was self-purification as well as to help others to dive deep in the chanting and kirtan with prayerful mood. Everyday most of us, God-brothers and God-sisters, chanted extra rounds; starting from 20 rounds to 56 rounds. Daily we were encouraging each other by sharing our individual chanting score in the group.
Other than this, everyday in the evening we were gathering at the house of any one of our God-brothers or God-sisters. From 6 pm to 8:30 pm we were doing kirtan. Almost everyone lead the kirtan atleast for 5 minutes. For two days it was nothing but ‘Small Kirtan Mela’, with expert kirtaniyas leading the kirtan.

Istadeva Prabhu used to motivate us by giving short talks on the glories of Holy Name in between the two kirtan singers.
On the first day , he explained us types of chanting based on Lord Kapila’s teachings. On second day, he spoke on ‘Ceto Darpana marjanam..’. On third day by giving the example of Ajamila’s life, he glorified the Holy name. On the fourth day& he & reminded us the importance and benefit of chanting in Mayapur Dham. “In Mayapur Dham one hour kirtan is equal to thousand hours kirtan.” He also said that, ‘why only one week? We should dedicate our life for the Holy Name.’ On fifth day he spoke on aparadha sunya nama. On sixth day, he spoke on ‘internal cleansing by chanting the Holy Name’. On the last day he explained the prayerful chanting, and real sewa is ‘sewa of Radha Krsna Nama’.

As it is said in this year’s ‘World Holy Name banner’- “Srila Prabhupada wants you to chant for love and peace” – we really felt that this year’s World Holy Name week has increased our love for other devotees and our love for the Holy Name. Our cousin God-brothers and God-sisters also joined us this year in the celebration.
